Happy 68th Birthday, Barbra!

When I collected Barbra Streisand memorabilia between the ages of 10 and 14, I really collected everything I could find. Below is a case in point. I clipped every newspaper advertisement there was for Yentl, during its theatrical run, from full-page ads to the tiny little last ad to appear in the papers. Right before [...]

I Hit a Kid in the Face with a Hammer!

The kids didn’t see me pick up the hammer and couldn’t intervene because they had their eyes trained on the recalcitrant squatter. He, in the second it took me to nail him, might have been thinking, with good reason, because I was a soft-spoken, gentle kid, “Scott wouldn’t hit me with a hammer” — Surprise!

The Other Scott

In the summer of 1984, I did a Journalism camp at Michigan Technological University. I wrote about it once for the Philadelphia Weekly, you can click here to read that one, it’s the first little story after the intro. Streisand-orama

THE SLIDESHOW I PERFORMED FOR MORTIFIED IN WASHINGTON, D.C.. Hi, I’m SM Shrake. Between the ages of 10 and 14, which was in the early ’80s, I was the world’s youngest male Barbra Streisand fan. And quite probably the only pre-teen boy in the world who collected Barbra Streisand memorabilia as his only hobby… READ [...]

Touch More Famous People

I guess I’ve always been a star-stalking star-molester. To add to the mortifying series of old journal entries and junk from my past, here is a list* (always listing, always collecting) of people (always listing people, always collecting people) — famous people (always listing famous people, always collecting famous people) — that I compiled in [...]

“Farmer Jack’s Lied to Me, and Said They Had No Public Toilets”

I deal with these people on the phone and through correspondence. Practically, I’m helping them. But theoretically, by working for the government which victimized them in the first place I’m only perpetuating evil.
